garbage

The controversy began Tuesday — at the same time Harris was speaking near the White House — when Biden participated in a campaign call organized by the Hispanic advocacy group Voto Latino. Biden used the opportunity to criticize Sunday’s Madison Square Garden rally, where a comedian described Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters. His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American,” Biden said. “It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”
(Harris promises to ‘represent all Americans’ after Biden’s remark on Trump supporters and ‘garbage’. The Associated Press. October 31, 2024.)

gut check

In an 11th-hour pitch to Jewish voters, second gentleman Doug Emhoff told a crowd in Pennsylvania that his wife, Vice President Kamala Harris, "feels it in her gut" what it means to support Israel.

"Let me be direct and answer the question that Jews have asked for generations. Yes, she feels it in her gut. Kamala feels it, as we say, in her kishkes," Emhoff said during an address in Pittsburgh.

The so-called gut test came up during the days of former President Barack Obama, when some Jews questioned how deep his support for Israel was.
(Morgan Phillips. Doug Emhoff says wife Kamala Harris supports Israel 'in her soul' and passes gut-check for Jewish priorities. Fox News. October 29, 2024.)

gut-check

Vice President Kamala Harris, "feels it in her gut" what it means to support Israel

a test or assessment of courage, character, or determination

whipper-snapper

“According to respondents, 29% say Gen Z coworkers are the most annoying to work with,” revealed researchers from LLC.org, Limited Liability Company experts. “Lack of work ethic, complaining and entitlement were the top three annoying traits of Gen Z coworkers.”

Making matters worse, whipper-snappers of the digital era, workers ranging in age from 18 to 27, also rank as the “least productive” folks on the clock as compared to their millennial, Gen X and Baby Boomer colleagues.
(Asia Grace. Gen Z has the ‘most annoying’ coworkers, study reveals — but they say it’s just hard to fit in. New York Post. October 28, 2024.)

whipper-snappers of the digital era

cryptophasia

cryptophasia

Up to 50% of twins develop their own communication pattern with one another. Most lose it over time, but for the Youlden twins it has become a normal way of communicating.

An estimated 30-50% of twins develop a shared language or particular communication pattern that is only comprehensible to them, known as cryptophasia. The term translates directly from Greek as secret speech.

Nancy Segal, director of the Twin Studies Center at California State University, believes there are now better and more nuanced words for the phenomenon, and prefers to use "private speech". In her book Twin Mythconceptions, Segal also uses the phrase "shared verbal understanding" to refer to speech used within the pair.
(Krupa Padhy. 'It's a unique language spoken by two people': The twins who created their own language. BBC News. October 27, 2024.)

doody

A Texas startup named Throne is making waves in scatological circles after devising a camera that attaches to your toilet and photographs your poop.

The downward-facing device simply clips onto the toilet rim and snaps videos of your stool. Afterward, doctor-trained artificial intelligence analyzes the stool and provides insight into the user’s daily “digestive and hydration status.”

This doody data, along with tailored health recs, is then made available via an accompanying Smartphone application.
(Ben Cost. AI toilet camera snaps pictures of poop — here’s why you want a fecal record. New York Post. October 24, 2024.)

doody data

solid bodily waste; feces
