Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is facing a backlash for correcting a woman who used the term "mankind".
During a town hall event in Edmonton, Alberta, last week, Mr Trudeau interrupted the young woman and urged her to say "peoplekind" instead.
Critics accused the prime minister of "mansplaining", "virtue-signalling" and making up words.
But his spokesman said Mr Trudeau was "a proud feminist" whose policies reflect "commitments to equality".
(Canada PM Trudeau faces PC backlash over 'peoplekind' comment. BBC News. February 7, 2018.)
mansplaining
Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Mansplaining is, at its core, a very specific thing. It's what occurs when a man talks condescendingly to someone (especially a woman) about something he has incomplete knowledge of, with the mistaken assumption that he knows more about it than the person he's talking to does.

運頼み ー the luck of the draw
BARRE, Vt. (AP) — Officials say getting a quick response from police when calling 911 requires a bit of luck.
Some towns and cities in the state have their own police departments so getting a relatively quick response to a situation such as a suspicious person hanging around a residence is the norm. But towns that don't have their own police elect to either contract with their local sheriff's department or state police for law enforcement, or they have to depend on state police troopers to show up when called. And towns that do contract for law enforcement generally don't receive 24/7 coverage because officials say there just aren't enough law enforcement professionals available and the cost for comprehensive coverage is more than towns can afford.
Maj. Rick Hopkins, commander of the Field Force Division of Vermont State Police, said unlike a municipal police department, troopers have a lot of ground to cover. Hopkins said "sometimes it's just luck of the draw" when it comes to getting a quick response time from state police.
(Officials say quick 911 response requires bit of luck. San Francisco Chronicle. February 5, 2018.)
the luck of the draw
If something that happens depends on the luck of the draw, it depends on chance rather than on the efforts or merits of the people invovlved.
(Collinc Cobuild Dictionary of Idioms)

PC culture
PC culture killed our school’s father-daughter dance: parents
A Staten Island elementary school scrapped its traditional father-daughter dance this coming Friday because of the Department of Education’s new gender guidelines.
The DOE ordered schools to “eliminate” any “gender-based” practices like the dance in a March 2017 policy update unless they serve a “clear” educational purpose.
The PS 65 shindig, set for Feb. 9, was abruptly postponed until next month after the school’s PTA realized the dance would run afoul of the rules.
“Until we understand what we are legally permitted to do, we need to table this event,” PTA president Toni Bennett wrote to a private school-parents group on Facebook.
(PC culture killed our school’s father-daughter dance: parents. New York Post. February 3, 2018.)
PCはPolicical Correctness(あるいは、Politically Correct)の頭文字を取ったものです。

spokesduck
Melania Trump is known for saying little in public. But in a 2005 commercial she spoke to the world — in the voice of the Aflac insurance spokesduck.
President Trump on Wednesday brought up the fact that his wife had once appeared in a television ad for the insurance giant, something you might have missed (confession: we didn’t remember the spot). Here’s how it resurfaced: Reps for Aflac met with Trump in the Oval Office to laud the recent tax reform legislation. Trump, true to form, made it all about Trump.
“They actually, a long time ago, hired my wife to do a big commercial. You know that, right? An Aflac commercial. And I think it was a successful commercial, too,” Trump said, per the pool report.
(Emily Heil. Donald Trump would like to remind us that Melania Trump was once in an Aflac commercial. The Washington Post. February 1, 2018.)
spokesduck

escapee
The prison escapee who broke out of Queensland's Capricornia Correctional Centre on Sunday has finally been caught, five days later.
Jermaine Lee Anderson pulled off his second getaway in four days after slipping through police fingers Wednesday afternoon, but was found Thursday afternoon in South Mackay, Seven News reports.
(Dangerous prison escapee arrested less than a day after he evaded officers by giving them a fake name when they didn't recognise him. Daily Mail. February 1, 2018.)
trainee
nominee
("attend"+ -ee)
absentee
devotee
refugee
