Britain's first "social supermarket" has opened its doors selling unwanted surplus food to people on benefits at a fraction of the price.
Community Shop is the country's newest cooperative that and aims to help more than 50,000 stuck in food poverty.
The chain will sell quality surplus food donated from the major supermarkets at 70 per cent less than normal price.
Each shop will work on a membership scheme with only those on income support eligible to join.
