A Seattle man was arrested Monday after throwing a batarang at officers in an SUV, according to police.

The unidentified man was allegedly waving a knife attached to a metal pole at a bouncer in Emerald City before fleeing when police arrived.

小文字で"batarang"ですので固有名詞ではありません。コンテクストから武器の一種のようですが、果たして？

辞書には載っていません。グーグル検索すると画像が出てきて納得です。

どうやらコウモリ（bat）をかたどったような形をしたものです。その形状から、コウモリの形をしたブーメラン（boomerang）のことだと推察がつきました。

ちなみに他の記事では、"batarang"は引用符付きで用いられており、解説がついています。
