ひた隠しにしたかった尖閣ビデオ ― under wraps

尖閣諸島沖での中国船による海上保安庁巡視船への故意の衝突を記録したビデオが流出したニュースがトップを飾っていますが、海外メディアもこぞって報道しています。


keep ... under wraps


という表現は、対象を機密にする、秘密にする、という意味で用いられ、英和辞書でもそのような表現で紹介されていますが、”ひた隠しにする”、という表現がピッタリのように思われます。特に今回の事件のような場合、下記の引用記事では、”ひた隠し”という表現以上にぴったりくるものはないのではないでしょうか？
