マック、それともマクド、それとも？ ― Macca’s

ハンバーガーチェーンのマクドナルド（McDonald's）を知らないという人はいないと思います。また、マクドナルドのことを、関西圏では「マクド」と省略して呼ぶのに対し、それ以外、特に関東圏では「マック」と呼ぶ、というのもよく知られていることだと思います。

下記の引用は、そのマクドナルドがイギリスで放映しているテレビコマーシャルが無神経だと批判され、炎上しているという話題です。


FAST food giant McDonald’s has come under fire after it aired an advert that suggested a child could get over the death of a parent just by having a burger.

Campaigners said the commercial “exploited childhood bereavement”. While social media have gone to town, saying using death to selling burgers was “shameless” and “offensive”.

The campaign is for Macca’s British arm and was supposed to run for seven weeks. But there are doubts it will make it that far.

問題になったCMというのは、父親を亡くした男の子が母親に父との共通点を尋ねるというところから始まるようです。母親と息子はマクドナルド店舗を訪れ、息子がフィッシュバーガーを注文したところで、亡き父親もフィッシュバーガーが好きだった、と母親がコメントする、という、まあ、他愛もないものです。

ブランドを売り込むのに人の死にまつわるストーリーを利用していると批判されても仕方ないかもしれません。

どうやら、オーストラリアではマクドナルドのことを"Macca's"と言うようです。

インターネットで検索したら下記のような記事が出てきました。
