唐突ですが、"proselytize"という単語をご存知でしょうか？

改宗させる、という意味の動詞です。

職場で宗教の話はしないのが普通といいますか、同僚や上司部下がどういう宗教を信仰しているといったことは聞くものではなく、まして異なる信仰を持つ相手に対して自信の信仰の正当性を主張したり、改宗を勧めるなど、ちょっと考えられないことです。

が、アメリカの人事管理局（Office of Personnel Management）は連邦政府職員に対し、職場での宗教活動の自由を認める通達を出し、勤務時間外ならば同僚に改宗を勧める活動なども許されるとしています。

"proselytize"という単語は"proselyte"（改宗者）という名詞が動詞化したものですが、"proselyte"の原義は"stranger"（異邦人）、"newcomer"（新参者）という意味だそうです。

トランプ政権下、こうした通達が出される背景には、アメリカ国内における反キリスト教の動きを牽制する狙いがあると言われています。
