OP

略語でOPというものがあります。ネットでよく使われる表現ですが、何のことかご存知でしょうか？

OPは、original posterを略したもので、ネット掲示板などでトピックを最初に投稿したユーザーのことを指すそうです。いわゆる、スレ主（スレッドの主；スレッドを立てた本人）とかトピ主（トピックを開始したユーザー）という日本語が相当します。

A woman’s boyfriend didn’t tell her he quit his job — and then accused her of being unsupportive when she didn’t want to pay the full rent they once split.

The frustrated girlfriend took to the r/AITA_WIBTA_PUBLIC Reddit forum to vent about her situation — which has since been deleted.

上記の記事を読んでいたのですが、途中からOPという略語が突然出てきたので面喰らいました。

The OP had to learn of her boyfriend’s impulsive decision to quit his job from their mutual friend.

実は突然にOPという略語が出てきたのではありませんでした。よく読むと、この前に以下のくだりがあり、OPが"original poster"の略であるらしいことは想像が付くものでしたが、読み飛ばしていました。

…the original poster started to notice that her man was home more than usual, especially during times when he should’ve been at work.
