今週のテーマ： reduplication ― argy-bargy

今週のテーマは、"reduplication"です。ところで、"reduplication"って何？日本語では、重複形とか加重音節と言われる、言語学の専門用語です。講釈を垂れる積もりは毛頭ないのですが、英単語に見られる興味深い現象、といいますか、形態上の特徴です。例えば、今日取り上げる単語である、


argy-bargy


ですが、"argue"（議論する）という単語が少し変形し、音節が繰り返されて形成されています。

英語ではこのような単語がいくつかあるのですが、それらの単語を今週は見ていきたいと思います。
