emophilia

Are you lucky in love? Or just an emophiliac.

Emophilia is defined as “the tendency to fall in love fast and easily.”

The term, coined by psychologist Dr. Daniel Jones, describes those who “want” to be in love, driven by the excitement of making connections and the whirlwind of emotions that come with it.

Emophiliacs feel they “need” someone, often due to loneliness or anxiety — and they’ll rush right into a relationship, just to have that desire sated.
(Adriana Diaz. This risky romantic behavior could put you in serious danger, experts warn: ‘Red flags’. New York Post. October 1, 2024.)

emotional promiscuity

jabberwocky

“A diner reading ‘boneless wings’ on a menu would no more believe that the restaurant was warranting the absence of bones in the items than believe that the items were made from chicken wings, just as a person eating ‘chicken fingers’ would know that he had not been served fingers,” Justice Joseph T. Deters wrote for the majority.

The dissenting justices called Deters’ reasoning “utter jabberwocky,” and said a jury should’ve been allowed to decide whether the restaurant was negligent in serving Berkheimer a piece of chicken that was advertised as boneless.

“The question must be asked: Does anyone really believe that the parents in this country who feed their young children boneless wings or chicken tenders or chicken nuggets or chicken fingers expect bones to be in the chicken? Of course they don’t,” Justice Michael P. Donnelly wrote in dissent. “When they read the word ‘boneless,’ they think that it means ‘without bones,’ as do all sensible people.”
(Michael Rubinkam. Chicken wings advertised as ‘boneless’ can have bones, Ohio Supreme Court decides. The Associated Press. July 26, 2024.)

utter jabberwocky

allergy

The seasonal sniffling and sneezing could last longer for allergy sufferers. A recent study published in the journal Nature Communications suggested that climate change will lengthen allergy season.

Two scientists from the University of Michigan examined climate data and pollen data and found that pollen emissions later this century would likely start 10-40 days earlier in the spring and end up to 19 days later in the fall.
(Longer allergy season possible due to climate change, study suggests. New York Post. March 20, 2022.)

hologram

The universe is one “vast and complex hologram” and our three-dimensional world may be an illusion, scientists have claimed.

British, Canadian and Italian scientists have found what they claim is the first evidence that our world is not what we thought it was.

The astrophysicists studied the “afterglow” left over from the Big Bang and found substantial evidence that the universe is holographic.

Bizarre as it may seem, there is currently the same amount of evidence for a holographic world as there is for the traditional structure of the universe, the scientists at the University of Southampton claimed.

The concept of a holographic universe was first suggested in the 1990s but it’s not until now that telescope data has been able to back it up.

The concept is similar to watching a 3D film in a movie.
(Reality might just be a gigantic hologram. New York Post. January 31, 2017.)

(3) ― trialogue

trialogue
