doody

A Texas startup named Throne is making waves in scatological circles after devising a camera that attaches to your toilet and photographs your poop.

The downward-facing device simply clips onto the toilet rim and snaps videos of your stool. Afterward, doctor-trained artificial intelligence analyzes the stool and provides insight into the user’s daily “digestive and hydration status.”

This doody data, along with tailored health recs, is then made available via an accompanying Smartphone application.
(Ben Cost. AI toilet camera snaps pictures of poop — here’s why you want a fecal record. New York Post. October 24, 2024.)

doody data

solid bodily waste; feces

doo-doo

Amid skyrocketing rents, a surge in crime and rising rates of homelessness, fed-up New Yorkers are now also facing a pileup of poop.

The number of complaints about dog feces festering on city sidewalks has been soaring in recent weeks, especially on Manhattan’s West Side.

The Big Apple’s sanitation police are now trying to cut the crap — launching a blitz to catch dog owners and walkers as they flee from the doo-doo.
(Andrew Court. NYC cracks down on lazy dog walkers: ‘There is no poop fairy’. New York Post. April 26, 2022.)

vanity plate

Parent: "Go now, you may not get the chance later."

At least for one New Hampshire woman, that was pretty much the ongoing conversation she had with her four kids ... so much that she made it her vanity license plate for 15 years.

Wendy Auger is proud of her "PB4WEGO" plate and told CNN she's never had any issues with it. Until now.

New Hampshire asked Auger, in a letter she received August 16, to surrender her plate because it includes a phrase relating to "sexual or excretory acts or functions," said Auger.
(Alisha Ebrahimiji. A mom with a license plate that reads 'PB4WEGO' wins a battle with the state to keep it. CNN. August 29, 2019.)

sexual or excretory acts or functions

Pee Before We Go

― porta potty

Finding a marathoner with more experience than Doug Kurtis is like locating an unoccupied porta potty five minutes before the start of a big race--it's extremely rare, if not impossible. Kurtis, 62, a writer and race director from Livonia, Michigan, has run 205 marathons in the last 40 years, finishing 200 of those in less than three hours. His 200th sub-3:00, last October's Detroit Free Press Marathon, made him one of 33 people to beat that mark in five separate decades.
(10 Tips to Master the Marathon. Runner's World. July 18, 2015.)

porta potty

Bird poop for beauty?

That's what goes into facials at a luxury spa where the traditional Japanese treatment using imported Asian nightingale excrement mixed with rice bran goes for $180 a pop.

About 100 women and men go into the Shizuka New York skin care salon, just off Manhattan's Fifth Avenue, each month to get the treatment, which is promoted as a way to keep the face soft and smooth using an enzyme in the poop to gently exfoliate the skin.
(Newest facial craze sweeping New York? Bird poop. New York Post. August 2, 2013.)

― number two

Should your cat's "No. 2" be considered a No. 1 health problem? Thanks to a hardy parasite that makes its home in cat feces, a growing number of animal disease experts are calling for a national health campaign to clean up after America's beloved felines.

"Nobody wants to talk about it, but our cats are outside pooping all over the place," said Patricia Conrad, a professor of parasitology at UC Davis' School of Veterinary Medicine. "There's a lot more out there in the environment than any of us would like to think about."

In a study published Tuesday in the journal Trends in Parasitology, two Maryland researchers calculated that both household and feral cats produce 1.2 million metric tons of cat feces each year -- a weight roughly equivalent to 12 aircraft carriers.
(Monte Morin. Is your kitty's poop a public health threat? Los Angeles Times. July 9, 2013.)
