何か悪いことをしでかした時、不正を働いた時、そこまで大袈裟でなくとも、ちょこっとちょろまかした、みたいな時、誰にも見つからずに、お咎めを受けることなくやりおおせてしまうことがあると思います。（自分の経験かどうかは別にして・・・。）

その場合にぴったりな表現ではないでしょうか？

親の目を盗んでつまみ食いしたとかいう些細なものから、巨大企業の不正や極悪人の犯罪まで、幅は広いようですが、インターネットオンライン辞書でこの表現を検索すると、以下のような例文と対訳がありました。

You won't get away with it. : ただでは済まないぞ。／すぐにばれるぞ。

ポイントは"away"という表現でしょうか、"away"には”（一時的に）逃れている、離れている”というようなニュアンスがあるように思えます。

つまり、いずれは発覚する、捕まる、ばれる、ということではないでしょうか？（表現されていることがある意味、暴露、発覚そのものですね。）

仕事柄、下記の引用は興味深いです。
