Naoki Hiroshima is a Web developer in California. Until recently, his Twitter handle was @N – a unique name, to say the least.

But last week, according to Mr. Hiroshima's own account, he received a text message from PayPal, asking for a verification code. He ignored the message until he received an e-mail from GoDaddy, alerting him to changes in his account settings. As it turned out, a hacker had apparently commandeered both accounts with the purpose, Hiroshima says, of forcing him to hand over his @N handle.
(Matthew Shaear. The strange case of the stolen @N Twitter handle. The Christian Science Monitor. January 30, 2014.)

"I had this problem," he reminisces. "When I found the first differences between male and female in the brain, I got attacked by the feministic movement. Because it was not allowed to have any differences, not in the brain. All differences in brain and behaviour were due to society." He says all this as though it's years since, and yet as a card-carrying feministic, I do not feel that our concerns have been totally addressed.
(Zoe Williams. What can Dick Swaab tell us about sex and the brain? The Guardian. January 28, 2013.)

card-carrying feministic

"I knew at this moment as well as I could ever know that these guys sitting five feet behind me were card-carrying members of the mob.

"So how do you drive when you know that the fellow sitting just behind you puts bullets through people's brains for a living? Carefully!"
(Susannah Cahalan. Confessions of a NYC taxi driver. New York Post. January 19, 2014.)

― rebound

She didn't really love him; she married him on the rebound.

Maybe sex with someone new really is the best remedy for heartbreak, a new study suggests.

It’s at least a common fix for jilted lovers, according to University of Missouri psychologist Lynne Cooper and master’s student Lindsay Barber, who found evidence to confirm that rebound sex is a real phenomenon.

The researchers recruited 170 college students who had experienced a breakup in the previous eight months to take part in the study. The participants filled out weekly reports detailing their emotions and sexual activity, as well as their motivation for engaging in that behavior.

Thirty-five percent of the participants said they’d had sex to rebound from a relationship, and 25% admitted to having revenge sex.
(Victoria Taylor. One-third of people have 'revenge' or 'rebound' sex: study. New York Daily News. January 28, 2014.)

Merriam Webster

a reaction to setback, frustration, or crisis

marquee

SAN FRANCISCO -- Since the late Steve Jobs unveiled the iPhone in June 2007, the innovative smartphone has been the primary driver of Apple's revenue growth.

Now, the long growth run for the company's marquee product may be nearing an end, raising questions about Apple's ability to increase overall revenue.
(John Shinal. Apple's iPhone-driven growth run may be over. USA Today. January 27, 2014.)

Merriam Webster Dictionary

having or associated with the name recognition and attraction of one whose name appears on a marquee

American Heritage Dictionary

Exceptionally popular or skilled

Movember

"Movember"

US giant Proctor & Gamble says the global beard fashion is hurting sales of its shaving products.

Proctor & Gamble says a growing preference for shaggy styles is trimming razor sales.

P&G even called out Movember, when participants grow moustaches to raise money for prostate cancer research. The event cut into grooming sales last quarter, chief financial officer Jon Mbeller said on an earnings call.

P&G’s grooming business, which includes shaving cream, razor blades and deodorant, generated $US2.12 billion in revenue during the quarter ended December 31 and accounted for 9.5 per cent of the company’s sales.
(Beards are hurting razor sales, says Proctor & Gamble. The Age. January 27, 2014.)
