アメリカ大統領選の投票結果は未だに確定していませんが、今日見たところではアリゾナ州でバイデン氏勝利という報道があったりして、今頃になって・・・、という思いもします。

それだけ混乱しているということでしょうが、トランプ氏は敗色濃厚になっていることを自覚してか、沈黙を貫いているようです。

公の場には姿を見せているものの、まるまる1週間、ノーコメントなのだそうです。

尤も、ツイッターでの毒舌は普通通りらしく、アリゾナ州でのバイデン氏勝利を報じたFox Newsを貶す投稿をしているそうです。

Donald Trump has unleashed a torrent of tweets denouncing Fox News, accusing the network of having forgotten “what made them successful, what got them there”.

“They forgot the Golden Goose,” Trump wrote in a tweet posted at midday on Thursday:

The tirade was posted after the president, who has refused to acknowledge his election loss to Democratic nominee Joe Biden, retweeted multiple comments from supporters, many of which expressed the view that they would instead be relying on right-wing cable channel and website Newsmax.

トランプ氏のコメント、

“They forgot the Golden Goose,”

はFox Newsに向けられたものですが、"golden goose"とはイソップ童話に出てくる、金の卵を産むガチョウのことで、富を生み出すものの比喩です。

Fox Newsはどちらかというと親トランプという感じが以前からしていました。

実際にトランプ氏はCNNやNew York Timesなど、いわゆる「左寄り」のメディアには容赦ない攻撃をしてきましたが、Fox Newsとは蜜月関係に近いものがありました。

Fox Newsが今回の大統領選の結果を受けてトランプ氏に見切りをつけたとも思えませんが、バイデン氏寄りの報道をしたことが癪に障ったのでしょうか。
