"baloney"の意味ですが、"nonsense"（ナンセンス）、たわごと、というような意味です。相手の発言などに対して、"Baloney!"と一喝すると、ふざけるな！くらいの意味になるでしょうか。

この"baloney"というスペルはBologna（ボローニャ）が変化したもので、ボローニャソーセージのことなんだそうです。

ソーセージがナンセンス、たわごとの意味になったということなんですが、イタリアの名産にしてみれば不名誉な話ですね。

ソーセージとは要は肉を挽いたものになりますが、はしたや屑肉が材料ということに因むという話です。
