A CBS legal executive who said she had no sympathy for the victims killed in Las Vegas because they were “country music fans” — and, therefore likely Republican — has reportedly been fired.

Hayley Getfman-Gold posted the ugly comments on social media about Sunday’s massacre in a conversation over gun control.

“If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing,” she wrote on Facebook. “I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”

CBS promptly canned her.

この事件に関して、CBSの上級管理職の女性がソーシャルメディアに不適切なコメントを投稿したということで同社をクビになりました。

不適切な内容の投稿というのは、被害にあった人々はカントリーミュージックのコンサートに来ていた人たちであり、つまりは共和党員だから殺されても仕方がない、というような内容だということです。

ご存知のように、アメリカ社会は銃規制に関しては国論を二分していますが、共和党は銃を所持することを容認する立場を取っています。

解雇された女性のコメント中に、

という表現が出てきます。

これは、Republican、つまり共和党員のことを指すのですが、”Republican”と”repugnant”を組み合わせたスラングです。

ご存知のように、“repugnant”とは、嫌悪を催すような、という意味の形容詞であり、共和党員のことを蔑む表現であると言えます。
