女たらし ー Lothario

Lotharios who smoke and go down on their girlfriends are more likely to get a rare mouth and throat cancer.

Smokers who have had more than five sexual partners are at greater risk of getting the cancer triggered by the human papilloma virus.

But scientist reassure that only 0.7 percent of men will ever develop HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer in their lifetimes.

The risk was much lower among women, those who did not smoke, and those who had less than five oral sex partners in their lifetimes.

冒頭で、”Lotharios”とありますが、これは人の名前”Lothario”の複数形です。

このロサリオさんがどういう人かというと、英語では「女たらし」ということになっています。

“Lothario”は、Nicholas Roweという作家による戯曲”Fair Penitent”の登場人物だそうですが、所謂イケメンで女性を誑かす男として描かれた人物でした。

この戯曲以降、ロサリオなる人物像が女たらしとして定着していったと、Merriam-Websterの解説にあります。
