2段落目、見慣れない単語なのですが、"ream(s)"という単語があります。

辞書で引くと、“連”（紙の取引単位）とありますがこれまた聞きなれない用語です。アメリカで500枚、イギリスでは480枚、日本では1,000枚の紙に当たるそうですが、要は膨大な量の紙であるということを言うための表現なのでしょう。

ところでコーパスで検索してみると、ream(s)と一緒に使われる単語としては、"reams of paper"のように"paper"（紙）が勿論多いのですがそれよりも多いのが"data"で、そのほかに、


documents
information
paperwork
research
printouts


などと続きます。

"reams of"はほとんど、"a lot of"や"lots of"と同じような用いられ方をしていると言ってよいでしょう。

という言い回しは定着した、決まりきった表現のようです。
