今日取り上げる"bottle up"の定義ですが、

to keep (a feeling or emotion) inside instead of expressing it : to hide (a feeling or emotion)

(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

というもので、日本語にすると、自分の感情を抑え込む、という意味です。

怒りや悲しみといった感情を表に出さず、中にため込む、もしくはひた隠しにする、ということです。
