11月に行われた米中間選挙では民主党が躍進し、共和党には厳しい結果となりましたが、下院では議席を減らした一方、上院では2議席を新たに獲得したというのは事実ではあります。

ということで、トランプ氏率いる共和党の言い分としては敗北ではないということらしいのですが・・・。

記事のタイトルに注目しましょう。

とあるのですが、ここで”cream(ed)”というのは、あの「クリーム」と同じ”cream”なのですが、

という意味で使われています。

“Cream”にこんな意味があるとは知りませんでした。

スラング（俗語）としての用法になるようです。
