この週末、アメリカではスーパーボウルの試合があったそうです。

アメフトの話題にはあまり詳しくありませんが、10年以上前に3ヶ月ほど滞在した折、週末のアメフトの試合の中継番組を、家族や友人で集まって観るのがアメリカ人の余暇の過ごし方のようでした。

大抵昼間からビールを開け、タコスやらポテトチップスなどの軽食を準備していました。

そのスーパーボウルの試合があった翌日の月曜日というのはズル休みする人が多いという統計があるというのが、引用した記事の趣旨なんですが、週末の一大イベントで盛り上がりすぎて、現実逃避したくなる人が多いのでしょうか！？

さて、ズル休みを表現するのに、

という表現が使われていますが、これはアメリカ英語特有の表現らしく、”hook it”（逃げる、とんずらする）というフレーズがつづまったものという解説が辞書に見えます。
