東京五輪開幕 ― solidarity

東京オリンピックが1年間の延期を経て、遂に開幕、本日開会式を迎えました。

開会式がネットで中継されていたので、今までそれを視聴しておりました。

世界各国からの選手団の入場は、こんなにたくさんの国から様々な人々が参加しているのだと、改めて感銘を受けました。

IOCのバッハ会長の挨拶では、

solidarity

という単語が連発されていました。10回以上出てきたかと。

連帯感とか団結という意味です。

オリンピックのモットーは、

Faster, Higher, Stronger, and Together

ということで、"solidarity"は"together"と同意でもあります。

開催反対の声も根強いものがありましたが、オリンピックが開催に漕ぎ着けて良かったなと思いました。

The 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games have officially kicked off following an opening ceremony that emphasized solidarity and perseverance.

The event was held mostly without spectators to prevent the spread of infections, although 1,000 VIPs were allowed to attend.
