こんな意味もあったの？ ― member

さて、記事を引用します。

男性のシンボルがぽっきりと折れてしまったら（！？）、どうしたらよいでしょうか。

そんなまさかの事態が実際に起きてしまったのはイギリスということですが、史上類を見ない報告ということで話題になっています。

ちなみに事故では性交中のハプニングだということで、"ill-timed thrust"とは、これまた生々しい記述です。

ところで史上類を見ないとは言うものの、初めてのケースでは無いようです。記事の終わりに下記のようなくだりがあります。

This isn't the first time someone's wounded their willy in the boudoir. In 2019, a randy man snapped his member clean in half while getting jiggy with his girlfriend. Meanwhile, another man with a broken penis the same year found his member calcifying into "bone" afterward.

ここで使われている"member"の意味に注目下さい。

記事の内容だけに直接的な表現が憚られているのかもしれませんが、"willy"にしろ、"member"にしろ、俗語としての意味合いで男性器を指すのに用いられます。

俗語とは言うものの、Merriam-Webster Onlineの定義では、以下のように1番最初に出てくるのは少々驚きです。

1: a body part or organ: such as

　　a: LIMB

　　b: PENIS

　　c: a unit of structure in a plant body

"male member"とか"virile member"などとも表現するようです。
