先週後半の当ブログ記事で取り上げてきたように、トランプ氏を追い上げているのはニッキ・ヘイリー氏で、有力候補と見なされていたデサンティス氏が3番手に留まるという見通しです。

デサンティス氏については指名候補争いから脱落せざるを得ないのではないかという見通しも出てきました。

ところでこの慣用句ですが、手元にある研究社新英和大辞典、ランダムハウス英和辞書では"stack"という動詞のエントリに載っていました。

"stack"は積み上げるという意味ですが、口語では不正操作をするという意味があり、トランプの札を、思い通りの手が出るようにあらかじめ並べかえておくことを意味するそうです。
