ミネソタ州で起きた黒人男性の死亡事件をきっかけに全世界的に"Black Lives Matter"の運動が広まりました。

黒人の死亡事件には白人の警察官が関わっていましたが、警察官への反感もこれまでになく高まっています。これを受けて、"Blue Lives Matter"（"Blue"は警官の制服の色）という警察官を擁護する動きも出たのですが、最近では"Blue Lives Murder"という、やはり警察を黒人の敵とみなすスローガンが広まっているようです。

さて、その問題のスローガンをあしらった衣料品などが出回っているのですが、こうした商品を販売しているアマゾンが批判されている模様です。

共和党議員らが、警察官への反感情を焚きつけるような傾向に警鐘を鳴らしているというものです。

気になった表現に、

というくだりの、"eviscerate"という動詞があります。

この単語ですが、visceraというのは内臓を意味するラテン語viscusから来ており、接頭辞のe-（ex-）がついて、内臓を取り出す、というのが本来の意味です。

辞書を引くと、骨抜きにする、という日本語訳が載っており、つまり議論の内容や制度設計などにおいて、重要な部分を取り除いてしまう、ということです。（重要な部分は英語文化では「内臓」ということになりますが、日本語では「内臓」よりも「骨」という点は興味深いです。）

ところで、引用記事の"eviscerate"を解釈しようとして、骨抜き、はしっくりと来ません。

この箇所における"eviscerate"はむしろ"criticize"といった単語に置き換えられると思われるのですが、辞書にはそのような意味合いは載っていないのが不思議です。

記事のタイトルも、

Lawmakers slam Amazon for selling 'Blue Lives Murder' apparel

とありますように、"eviscerate"は"slam"（酷評する、そしる）に呼応しています。

ちょっと検索してみますと、このような意味合い（つまり、批判する、といった意味合い）で"eviscerate"を用いているものがちらほらと見つかります。以下はそのひとつです。

複数の辞書に当たってみたのですが、"eviscerate"にそのような意味合いを載せているものは見当たりませんでした。

誤用では？とも思ったのですが、辞書には載っていなくとも事実上確立している意味合い、用法なのかもしれません。ご存知の方がおられましたらお教え下さい。
