オンライン会議の席上での「スキャンダル」で、New Yorker誌を解雇処分となった高名な弁護士が復帰したと話題になっています。

昨年当ブログでも取り上げた「スキャンダル」の内容は改めて触れませんが、ある意味パンデミック下の悲劇だと、これまたマスコミの好餌となりました。本人は不名誉を恥じて表舞台からしばらく姿を消していたものです。

"The View" co-host Meghan McCain blasted CNN for rolling the red carpet for its disgraced legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin, who previously went "on leave" after he was caught masturbating by his New Yorker colleagues on a Zoom call last fall. 

CNN stunned social media on Thursday when Toobin appeared on the network for the first time since his indecent exposure. "CNN Newsroom" anchor Alisyn Camerota interviewed her embattled colleague as he answered uncomfortable questions while keeping his hands visibly above the table.

赤じゅうたん（red carpet）といえば、高貴な人や高い位にある賓客がその上を歩くイメージが定着しています。相手に対して丁重にもてなす、歓待する、という意味で使われます。

この記事のコンテクストでは皮肉でしかありませんが・・・。
