ラインが上場申請 ― float

若い人の間で絶大な人気を誇る（！？）、ケータイ・スマホアプリのラインが東京証券取引所に上場申請を行ったというニュースです。（ラインはアプリの名称なのですが、会社はNaverというそうです。）


Line, the Japan-based smartphone messaging service, has filed preliminary listing documents in Tokyo as it heads toward the first major flotation from the fast-growing “chat app” sector.

Naver, Line’s South Korean parent, said on Wednesday that it had submitted documents to the Tokyo Stock Exchange related to a possible flotation. But it added that it also was considering a listing in the US, either in addition to or instead of Japan, and that “nothing is confirmed yet”. It promised further information within the next month. Shares in Naver were down 3.4 per cent on Wednesday afternoon in Seoul.

上場申請を行った、と書きましたが、実際は微妙なところらしく、上場申請の準備をしているというのが正確なところのようです。

さて、今日取り上げる単語ですが、


flotation


という単語に着目しました。

"float"とは浮かぶという意味ですが、経済用語としては、


（株式・債権を）証券市場で売り出す、募集発行する


という意味があることを今日知りました。

名詞である、"flotation"は、


（会社などの）設立、起業；（債権の）発行、（証券の）募集


を意味します。

こんな意味もあったんですねぇ。
