いわゆる"Birther Movement"と呼ばれる政治的な主張ですが、トランプ氏は自らの主張に誤りがあったと認めたわけではなく、またオバマ大統領に謝罪したわけでもありません。

この発言の、"period"の用法はなかなかお目にかかれない用法ではないでしょうか。
