と評されています。

"broke the mold"の"mold"（mould）というのは型、鋳型のことです。

まだ学生であった小生は、ゴルバチョフ氏のニュース映像を、当時テレビで目にすることがしばしばありました。穏やかにも見える表情（と特徴的な頭頂部）に、コワモテのロシア政治家には無い親しみやすさのようなものも感じられました。
