はしか予防接種の案内です。アメリカではしかが大流行しているのはご存知でしょうか。


Measles is on the rise again, all around the globe.

Though the number of people affected in the U.S. is still relatively low compared with the countries hardest hit, there are a record number of U.S. measles cases — the highest since the disease was eliminated in the U.S. back in 2000.

Measles has been documented in more than a third of states, with large outbreaks in New York and Washington.

最近の報道ではアメリカではしかが大流行していることを伝えています。

若者の間で予防接種が受けられなかったことが原因となっているのだと思っていましたが、リスクは大人にもあるということです。

居住する自治体から届いた案内では、昭和37年から54年までの間に生まれた男性は抗体の保有率が低いという統計があるらしく、抗体検査を受けて、必要に応じて予防接種を受けることを呼びかけています。

「追加的対策」と書かれているのですが、引用した記事には、


booster


という表現が使われています。

追加の予防接種のことを指すようですが、辞書にもちゃんと定義があって、


a substance or dose used to renew or increase the effect of a drug or immunizing agent
(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)


とあるのです。
