この数週間、マスコミを賑わせている秋篠宮内親王の結婚にまつわる話題はいよいよ海外メディアでも取り上げられるようになりました。

結婚に伴い内親王が皇室離脱し、さらにアメリカに居住するということで、同じく結婚後にイギリス王室を離脱したハリー元王子とメーガン元妃の夫妻になぞらえられています。

内親王の婚約相手の母親に持ち上がった金銭トラブルをきっかけに、話はたちまち祝賀ムードからゴシップ扱いとなり、日本中を騒がせていることについて触れたものですが、"tizzy"の定義を見てみましょう。

個人的には、Collinsの定義にあるように、どうでもいいような話題に大騒ぎしている、という意味合いがここではぴったりのように思います。

内親王の結婚を巡る問題はもはや芸能人のゴシップネタと同レベルで報じられていますが、ネット上は避難囂々、匿名ゆえの読むに堪えない誹謗中傷も見受けられます。

明日、正式に結婚を発表と報じられていますが、果たして・・・。
