two-timer

チート（cheat）とはインチキをすること一般（例えばカンニングとか）を指す表現ですが、よく見かける用例としては、恋人や配偶者に対する裏切り、つまり浮気すること、不倫を指します。

ところで、同じく不貞行為を指す表現に、

two time

というものがあります。

"two time"（ハイフンが入って、"two-time"となることもあります）は動詞です。

上記引用では、"two-timer"となっていますが、つまりは浮気をしている人を指しています。

数字の2である"two"が入っているのは、やはり本命と浮気相手という「2人」という意味合いがあるのでしょう。

日本語でも「二股をかける」と言いますからね。また、裏切りの気持ちを持つことを言うのに、「二心ある」、「二心を抱く」という表現もありますね。

Oxford Dictionaryなどによれば、"two time"の初出は1920年代ということらしく、比較的新しい表現と言えます。

また、"two time"が初めて使われたのは裏切るという意味だったらしく、浮気をするという意味でも用いられるようになったのは後になってからのようです。
