猫（オス）を飼っています。普段あまり鳴くことはありません。

"caterwaul"という単語は、ギャーギャー喚く、金切り声を出す、という意味ですが、cater-は猫（cat）を意味し、-waulは遠吠えのようにうなるという意味で擬声語から来ているそうです。

発情期のネコの鳴き声、金切り声ということでは、不愉快な、耳障りのするような音、またそのような発言という意味で使われます。

We must act now.”
