Logitech Washable Keyboard Makes a Splash

PC好きの人はLogitechというPCの周辺機器メーカーはよくご存知でしょうか。キーボードやマウスで有名のように思いますが、そのLogitechが"washable"なキーボードを発売する、ということで話題になっています。


Slips, slops, and spills are no match for Logitech's latest keyboard, the scrubbable, submergable, spill-proof, K310 Keyboard. This white-keyed washable keyboard is designed to withstand the rigors of life, from grimy fingers to splashes of soda.

Designed to stand up to the stresses that lay lesser keyboards low, the Logitech Washable Keyboard K310 can be submerged in up to 11 inches of water, washed with soap and water, and otherwise soaked and splashed. Though it is hand washable, you'll want to keep it out of the dishwasher, because while the keyboard can be safely submerged, the USB cable isn't waterproofed. The back of the keyboard has holes for draining off liquid and convenient air drying.

なんと、水につけても、洗剤でゴシゴシ洗っても大丈夫ということですから、話題になるのもうなずけるというものです。

さて、記事のタイトルにある、"make a splash"は、


派手にやらかす、
あっと言わせる、
大評判をとる


といった意味の成句ですが、"splash"という動詞自体は、


水や泥をはねかける、はね散らす


という意味ですから、ここではキーボードが話題になっていることと、実際に"washable"であることをかけた、しゃれの類であろうと思います。

記事のページでは動画でも紹介されていますが、

というキャプションが印象的です。キーボードだって洗って欲しい、というところでしょうか。昔のウォシュレットのキャッチコピーみたいですが（笑）
